What started with 12 colleges participating in the Community College Survey of Student Engagement (CCSSE) pilot administration in 2001 has grown to the participation of over 950 institutions, with over 2.8 million students surveyed. Many of those colleges have also participated in the Community College Faculty Survey of Student Engagement (CCFSSE) and the Survey of Entering Student Engagement (SENSE)—two instruments complementary to CCSSE that were developed to capture the faculty perspective on student engagement and the entering student experience. Over 70% of the nation’s community colleges have participated multiple times in a CCCSE survey.
