With generous support from Lumina Foundation and The Pew Charitable Trusts, CCCSE was established as a project of the Community College Leadership Program (CCLP) in the College of Education at The University of Texas at Austin in 2001. The original vision for CCCSE was to produce information about community college quality and performance that would provide value to institutions in their efforts to improve student learning and retention.
While we at CCCSE remain committed to connecting colleges with insights that matter about student engagement through our core survey instruments, we are also committed to evolving and growing in order to best support our partners fighting the good fight at institutions across the country. To celebrate this anniversary, we are revisiting our beginnings and reflecting on milestones throughout our evolution as an organization.
We have immense gratitude for all of those who have supported us along the way—foundations that have sponsored our work, organizations that have partnered with us on projects over the years, leaders and researchers who have guided us as members of our advisory boards and panels, our current and former colleagues, and most important, the colleges that have trusted us to provide them with information about the student experience on their campuses.
We feel so fortunate to have been able to inform positive change at community colleges across the country for the last 20 years, and we plan to continue doing just that as we move into our third decade.
