Community College Survey of Student Engagement (CCSSE)
CCSSE is a survey tool that helps institutions focus on good educational practice and identify areas in which they can improve their programs and services for students. Administered during the spring to mostly returning students, CCSSE asks about institutional practices and student behaviors that are highly correlated with student learning and retention.
Community College Faculty Survey of Student Engagement (CCFSSE)
Offered as a companion to the CCSSE student survey, CCFSSE elicits information from faculty about their perceptions regarding students' educational experiences, their teaching practices, and the ways they spend their professional time—both in and out of the classroom.
Survey of Entering Student Engagement (SENSE)
SENSE is a survey tool that helps community colleges discover why some entering students persist and succeed and others do not. Administered in the first few weeks of the fall academic term, SENSE asks student to reflect on their earliest experiences (academic and services-related) with the college.
Race/Ethnicity Pilot Survey
The Race/Ethnicity pilot survey is a tool to help colleges understand their students’ experiences with racism, inclusion, and belonging. It is our hope that college leaders will use the resulting data to have conversations with their faculty and staff about how racial barriers and experiences impact community college students and the campus experience.
Focus Group Work
CCSSE and SENSE data provide colleges a great deal of information to help identify strengths and areas in need of improvement in the work of increasing student success. These data deliver the "what" about the student experience, but through focus groups, colleges can also learn the "why." In addition to gathering specific detail about the experiences students and others are having, CCCSE’s structured discussions help uncover possible strategies to consider for improvement. CCCSE can facilitate focus groups and/or institutions can utilize the focus group toolkits.
Customized Workshops
CCCSE provides workshops tailored for single institutions, districts, systems, regions, or other organizations. Agendas are tailored to address particular areas of interests such as introducing institutional CCCSE data, communicating CCCSE survey results to internal and external groups, understanding and using these results for improvement, etc.
